There’s so many good American restaurants in Morristown but there are three that really stand out to me (this was really hard for me to narrow down!). They are Town Bar and Kitchen, Colonial Grill, and Tommy’s Tavern+Tap.
Town Bar & Kitchen
In third place, is Town Bar and Kitchen, located at 80 Elm Street, Morristown. All of the food is so great, but here is what I like best. First, I recommend the bread and butter. The bread is perfectly crispy and they have melted gooey butter to dip in. I’m more of a plain bread guy, but this is very good. The next thing my family gets is the octopus. I love octopus. It’s perfectly chewy and just the amount of flavor. Even if you don’t really like seafood just try it and let your parents have the rest if you don’t like it. For my main, I split the porterhouse steak, which is half filet mignon and half a NY strip. I prefer the filet mignon because I don’t like steak with a lot of fat, but the NY strip was very good. Both steaks were cooked to perfection and so juicy. Finally, for dessert, I get the cookie monster, which is whipped cream on a brownie and a cookie, with a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
The Colonial Grill
In second place, even though it’s not technically a restaurant, I have The Colonial Grill. The Colonial Grill is a food truck near the Morristown Green. It is so popular that there is already a line before they open! If you are around the first five in line, they will give you free fries! They are famous for their steak and fries, but my personal favorite is the Colonial Burger. I don’t like toppings on my burger, so I just get mine plain. First, I want to talk about the bun. It is perfectly grilled and warm. Then the patty is so juicy and flavorful. That first bite is the best! You get a mix of the warm bun that’s not too crispy and the juicy burger. It’s amazing. And we can’t forget the fries! They are not too crispy but not too chewy – just the perfectly seasoned and textured bite. So, if you want the perfect burger, visit the Colonial Grill!
Tommy’s Tap+Tavern
And finally, in first, my top American restaurant in Morristown area is Tommy’s Tavern+Tap! Tommy’s is located at 1900 NJ-10, Morris Plains. Tommy’s does not take reservations so you might have to wait, but it is worth it. Tommy’s has so many TV’s all over so it’s the perfect spot to watch a game. The atmosphere is top tier.
For starters, I have two recommendations. First up is the big pretzel. It is very good and warm on the inside. The pizza is also so good, and really cheesy and warm. For my main, I get the wings but with no sauce. They are so good. The chicken on the inside is so warm and good and it goes perfectly with the skin, which is so tasty.
There are a lot of good restaurants in Morristown, but these are my favorites. Some other good ones are Enzo’s and Bistro 46, but my favorites are Town Bar & Kitchen, the Colonial Grill, and Tommy’s Tap & Tavern. If you want some amazing food, you should try out these places.
