Video Games: A Cause of Violence

Video Games: A Cause of Violence

This generation of kids love playing violent video games such as Fortnite, Battle Royal, Call of Duty, Black Ops 4, and many others.  Although kids and teenagers love playing video games like these, is playing violent video games encouraging kids to be more violent? The answer is a resounding YES!

President Donald Trump said during a White House meeting on school safety that the nation needs to address what young people are seeing. “I’m hearing more and more people saying the level of violence on video games is really shaping young people’s thoughts,” said the President.  This shows that video game violence is shaping young kids and teenagers thoughts, and if people do not do something about it then it could lead to further problems for them in the future.

The World Health Organization recently decided to add “Gaming Disorder” to its list of mental health conditions, stating that gaming behavior could qualify as problematic if it interferes significantly in areas of other people’s lives. This means that the effects of gaming are found to be extremely problematic to the point of becoming a mental health issue!

In conclusion, video games are influencing kids violent behavior because the level of violence can encourage them to act out, and if people do not do something about it then it could lead to further problems in their future. What do you think?
