Spooky Flicks!

Do you love a good scary movie? Movies are one of America’s favorite uses of entertainment and Halloween is one America’s favorite holidays. So naturally, Halloween movies are America’s favorite holiday entertainment, right? Well if you’re watching good movies, it is! Here are five Halloween movies that you should consider watching.

  • Mostly Ghostly: Who Let The Ghosts Out? (Fantasy/Comedy)

Max is a magician and the only one he knows who can see and hear ghosts. Tara and Nicky are ghosts and so are their parents. They can turn invisible, float, fly, come apart, and go through anything. Max is entering the Halloween talent show at his school. Tara and Nicky’s parents are banished somewhere and they really want to find them.  Phears is an evil ghost and wants to get rid of Nicky and Tara because he thinks that they can help Max banish of all the evil ghosts forever, but will he succeed? Find out in this movie for the age 7+ community.

  • Mostly Ghostly: Have You Met My Ghoulfriend? (Fantasy/Horror)

In this sequel, Max, Tara, and Nicky are still trying to find Tara and Nicky’s parents Max has the  ring that he wears everyday just to make sure that Phears or other ghosts don’t attack him. Phears has been banished to a graveyard where he recruits a circus performer to go and haunt Max for him, and also get his cat. A circus performer possesses Max and tries to get the ring off of his finger, which gets him into a lot of trouble, which Phears enjoys. Tara and Nicky are nervous that Phears will get them before they find their parents. This movie is hilarious and I recommended it for kids 7+ because there are some scary parts.

  • Halloweentown (Fantasy/Comedy)

Marnie’s mom won’t let her and her siblings go trick-or-treating on Halloween. Grandma Aggie comes and gives them costumes, candy, and gifts. Grandma Aggie tells the kids about Halloweentown, where she lives, but only about the town not that she lives there or that it’s real. Marnie overhears her mother and grandma talking about magic and how her mom should start her training to become a witch. Marnie’s mom refused to train Marnie to become a witch, or even let her know, which is to be completed on her 13th Halloween. What will Marnie’s mom decide, and how will it affect Marnie? This movie is the first of the four Halloweentown movies, and is suitable for all ages.

  • Return to Halloweentown (4) (Comedy/Family)

Marnie is going to Witch University, a college in Halloweentown, without her mother’s complete approval, but with a full scholarship. Marnie is now a witch with powers. Her mom gives her a personal witch’s glass bracelet to call home if she needs anything. This movie takes place during the millenium anniversary of Halloweentown. This movie is appropriate for people 6+ and is the fourth movie of the Halloweentown series. However, it is necessary to watch the previous three movies in the series in order to understand the plot of this movie.

  • Twitches (PG)

Coventry is where the two main characters, Alex (Artemis) and Cam (Apolla), were born, and  is a magical kingdom in different dimension. Alex is always up when the moon is up and Cam is always up when the sun is up. Alex has the moon amulet and Cam has the sun amulet, which give them magical powers..Their dad’s servants, Ileana and Karsh, saved them and brought them into this dimension into nearby hospitals. Coventry is in the middle of a war against The Darkness. When the twins finally turn 21 years old, Alex is reluctant and Cam is ecstatic! But what is the allure of being 21? This movie is great for 6 and up.

These are all amazing Halloween movie ideas. I really advise you to watch them. While there are spookier movies and definitely scarier movies, these are comedy gold!
