The hot sun, beating down on you. The heat is cooking you alive, melting you down to a puddle! But you still sit in the heat, wanting to enjoy the fresh air without burning up. Even with a T-shirt and shorts on, it is still way too hot. But suddenly, you remember something incredible! You run inside, open your freezer, and grab a cup of ice cubes. You pour water into your glass, the cool surface immediately relieving you. With a sip, you feel refreshed and comfortable. You walk back outside, and you are able to enjoy the fresh air! But the simple water that you are drinking is bland. It tastes…boring. You wish that you could enjoy a frozen treat this summer that tastes both delicious and interesting! Well, luckily, around Morristown there are perfect places to find the most delicious and refreshing frozen treats to beat the heat this summer.
Our first stop in Morristown is Taro, a well-loved fan favorite during the warmer months. Taro has a delicious variety of frozen yogurt, rolled ice cream, Japanese crepes, smoothies, bubble tea, and more. The frozen yogurt has a silky smooth consistency, perfect for a chilling treat to combat the blazing summer sun. Cold smoothies and iced bubble teas are also delicious and popular items at Taro, being both tasty and effective for cooling you down, whether you are walking around town or sitting outside reading a book. My personal favorite is the rolled ice cream, as its texture is as creamy as the wide variety of flavors are tasty. These mouth-watering frozen treats are sure to cool you down on a summer day, and there’s something for everyone to enjoy at Taro.
Next, we travel to Playa Bowls, where you can have a nutritious, delicious, and appetizing frozen snack! Not only does Playa Bowls have many varieties of blended smoothie bowls, but they also offer their delectable and crunchy granola and unique and enjoyable smoothies. The smoothie bowls are a fan favorite, as they have different bases such as dragonfruit, açai, mango, strawberry and banana, as well as toppings such as shredded coconut, Nutella, strawberries, bananas, honey, and more! These frozen bowls not only cool you down when you feel like you are melting in the heat, but they can also serve as a filling meal. Açai is also considered a superfood, and paired with the fruits it makes for a very nutritious meal. If you are a fruit lover, Playa Bowls is the perfect place to stop this summer for a frozen treat!
Our last stop is a new location in Morristown, coming soon, called the Meltique. The Meltique will offer delicious, flavorful bubble waffles (sometimes served with a cooling scoop of ice cream,) delicious iced matcha, and more! Even though this new spot isn’t open yet, its matcha-making workshops and “day club” full of music and cool summer sweet treats will definitely make it a fan-favorite from the day it opens!!
These amazing hot spots for frozen and cool summer treats to beat the heat are certainly amazing, but if you are looking for an easy and flavorful frozen summer treat to make at home, here is an amazing recipe for one that is a little healthier and still fantastically delicious!
