Are you someone who needs book recommendations for your summer reading? Then this article is for you! I’m going to tell you about one of my favorite young adult book series so you can read it and enjoy it as much as I did.
Powerless:
The book Powerless is the first book in the trilogy. The book is like the Hunger Games trilogy with a bit more fantasy. The book follows a girl named Paedyn Gray. She is an Ordinary (a person with no magic powers) in a world with Elites (people with magic powers). After saving a prince, she is forced to participate in the Purging Trials, which is an event that shows the Elites’ magic, which Paedyn does not have. Paedyn must pretend to be an Elite, as the king made a rule that all Ordinaries shall be banished. You may like this book if you liked The Hunger Games, because the trials are similar to the games.
Reckless:
Reckless is the second book in the trilogy. This book follows Paedyn after the Purging Trials. Now Paedyn is running away from the one person she has wanted to run to: Kai Azer. The second book tells us about Paedyn and Kai’s journey to find each other after the trials, and there are a LOT of twists and turns in this book. You will love this book because it continues the series, but also there’s a lot of character development. It focuses on Paedyn and Kai’s relationship and feelings. The genres in this book focus most on fantasy and romance.
Fearless:
Fearless is the last book in this series: it recently came out on April 8th, 2025. This book wraps everything up for Paedyn and Kai. This book also has many plot twists and a blend of romance and action. It is also seen as strong and emotional (there are sad parts in this one!). This book tells us more about Paedyn and Kai, and also about other characters like Kai’s brother Kitt and others. There is some more character development, and you get to see other characters’ happy or sad endings.
