Recently, Beyonce won over Billie Eilish in the Album of the Year category at the Grammys. Many Billie fans have spoken out on this, stating that Billie deserved this Grammy, and Beyonce fans are coming back at Billie fans, saying that the fans are never happy. While Beyonce is a well-known artist, Billie’s album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, with over 6 billion streams on Spotify, surpassed Beyonce’s album, Cowboy Carter, with over 1 billion streams, in many ways. I will compare the two albums and the fan bases, along with what others think about the Beyonce vs. Billie situation.
The Fan Base
Billie Eilish fans feel that Billie was robbed at the 2025 Grammys because she had a wonderful album that gained no awards. Her album, Hit Me Hard and Soft (HMHAS), gained over 6 billion listens and allowed Billie to climb to number one on Spotify charts. However, the fans were upset that Cowboy Carter, Beyonce’s album, won Album of the Year (AOTY) because they felt that nobody listened to Beyonce’s album. Beyoncé fans are coming back at Billie fans and calling them racist on TikTok and Instagram, but this isn’t the case at all. Billie Eilish fans are just upset that Billie Eilish was snubbed at the Grammys since she won no awards, and they are just speaking out on it. Even some fans of other singers in the AOTY award category felt that Billie Eilish deserved the AOTY. In the end, the fan base spoke their feelings and still stand by them.
The Albums/Artists
While Beyonce has been a musician longer than Billie Eilish, Billie resonates with a significant amount of teens today. Beyonce already has 35 Grammys while Billie Eilish only has nine. It wouldn’t have hurt to give her at least one, especially considering she had a few hits off of HMHAS, including Birds of a Feather and Wildflower. Sure, Cowboy Carter had Texas Hold ‘Em as a hit, but that album only had 1.5 billion streams, while HMHAS had 6 billion streams. While both artists are exceptional, I still believe that Billie Eilish deserved AOTY or at least one Grammy.
Therefore, Beyonce and Billie Eilish are both great artists. However, the fans don’t always see eye to eye, and some of the music and albums are better than others. But whose side are you on, Billie Eilish or Beyonce?
