Theater. Dance. Song. These have all been a part of human civilization for some time. From the roaring 20’s to the far future, musicals have always been a part of our lives. Today, you’ll hear about musicals that span the decades. Welcome to What’s On Stage: Through the Ages!
Starting off on our trip down memory lane is The Great Gatsby! The Great Gatsby is a musical with jazz, ballads and so many emotions. It follows the original storyline of the book by F. Scott Fitzgerald, featuring Ryan McCartan as Jay Gatsby and Sarah Hyland. Both of these stars bring immense talent and experience to both roles. They also have wonderfully designed costumes and won a Tony Award for the amazing design of the costumes. However, please keep in mind that the Great Gatsby contains sad moments and multiple cases of death, so watchers, please be cautioned. If you want to be a part of the Roaring’ 20’s, the Great Gatsby is the show for you.
Moving down the timeline musical is a showstopping, cartoon-based musical. You guessed it, it’s Boop! The musical! Based on the beloved cartoon
Boop! The Musical has it all, from showstopping tunes to the characters we all know and love. The very talented Jasmine Amy Rogers brings a performance inspired by the original cartoon. So if you feel inspired, “BOOP” your way down to the Broadhurst Theater and see Boop! The Musical now!
Our final stop down memory lane takes place sometime in the near or far future. Maybe Happy Ending tells the story of two robots, abandoned by their owners in a broken robot apartment complex. A robot named Oliver embarks on a quest to find his owner with his (sort-of) friend Claire. Together they go on a journey and find out the truth. Could they also find love? In the Pixar- like musical, Darren Criss and Helen J. Shen star as a perfect pair. You can’t help but wonder: is there Maybe [a] Happy Ending? Go to the Belasco Theater to find out!
As you can see, there are so many options and so many time periods of musicals to see. The only question that you may have is: Which one do I see first? Well, you can see whichever one you are more drawn to. As long as you keep art in your life, you will be successful throughout the most amazing ages!
