Here at FMS, there are many different music teachers. In particular, there is our amazing orchestra teacher, Mrs. Tomblin. If you want to learn more about our orchestra teacher, here is everything you need to know about Ms. Tomblin.
Ms. Tomblin has been teaching orchestra for quite some time now. In fact, she has been teaching music for 15 years! She first started teaching music at Edison High School. Since she has so much experience, this makes her a very good orchestra teacher for all her students.
What got Ms. Tomblin into music? Well, around first or second grade there was an assembly where a violinist was performing. Being in the audience and seeing how well the violinist played inspired her to want to be able to play like that. She started playing around fourth grade, and her first instrument was the violin. This one moment in her life made her do something that paved the way to her career.
Mrs. Tomblin has many varieties of favorite music genres, such as classical, hip-hop, R&B, and soul music. She has gone to Rutgers University to study music. When practicing for school concerts, she likes to have students play a variety of music, but wants the music to be a challenge for each person and can teach them skills.
When it comes down to choosing what music to play, Mrs. Tomblin makes sure it’s “specific to the group I have. Especially after getting to know their personalities.” She would definitely consider herself a professional musician. If she had not become a musician she would be a language scholar or a linguist.
Before concerts. Mrs. Tomblin likes to write things down and make check lists to help stay organized. During her high school years, she saw an orchestra teacher and decided that that was the career she wanted to follow.
In conclusion, Mrs. Tomblin loves teaching her students and playing music. If you want to participate in orchestra class make sure to sign up for next year. If Mrs. Tomblin were to give advice to the students she would say, “Always do something you care about that is special to only you, and brings YOU joy”.
