In this busy holiday season, there are some great holiday shows just down the harbor! Welcome back to the first edition of What’s on Stage in the 2024-25 school year! To kick this year off, this edition will be all about those holiday shows that you will surely love. Now, let’s start this November right away with What’s on Stage: Holiday Edition!
First is a musical adaptation of a movie that comes to the top of the mind every holiday season. It tells the story of a man who grows up as an Elf, (but he doesn’t know that he is a human.) You guessed it- It’s “Elf: The Musical”! With its jazzy dance numbers to its spectacular set pieces, “Elf the Musical” has it all! It is also showing in two places nearby. The Broadway production will be showing at the Marquis Theater starting on November 9, 2024 through the New Year. It will be starring Tony-award-winning actor Grey Henson as Buddy the Elf. This spectacular performance will also be shown in Red Bank, New Jersey at the Count Basie Theater from November 19th to November 2024. I hope you can make your way through the forest of swirly twirly gumdrops and see one of these productions of Elf. It will be “Sparklejollytwinklejingly”!
Next, an iconic Christmas Story takes place at the Papermill Playhouse. You may know it by the countless times your family may have watched it. You guessed it! It’s the musical adaptation of “A White Christmas” and it’s taking place at the Papermill Playhouse from November 27th to November 29th. This musical features the iconic songs “Blue Skies” and “White Christmas.” The show is quite enjoyable. So, go see “White Christmas” at the Papermill Playhouse and let’s hope there is one this year!
