Summer! The wonderful summer. A shining sun in clear blue skies, soft, green grass, and super warm weather. That can definitely be amazing most of the time. But when July and August come around, the heat can become a little unbearable. Luckily, there is a perfect way to relieve the heat: a nice, cold, drink. But if you don’t want to make one, where can you get one?
Well, there are some fantastic places right here in Morristown where you can get super flavourful cold drinks that will satisfy your cravings, and cool you down despite the heat of the long summer days.
One of the places where you can get a super refreshing beverage is well-loved in Morristown – Taro! Taro’s boba is well known and loved around Morristown, and for a good reason. Taro’s boba is fantastic and perfect for a hot summer day. I tried the traditional brown sugar milk tea with tapioca pearls. The presentation of this drink was great! It’s always super fun stabbing the plastic seal on the top of the cup with the boba straw. Other than that, the boba were settled nicely on the bottom, and none of them were floating. The actual boba pearls were also perfect. They had a thin layer of syrup over them, and they were incredibly soft and chewy. They were definitely less gelatinous than gummies, but had a similar consistency to gummies. There was a generous portion of boba, and also a generous portion of ice which kept the drink super cold! The pour was also very clean, and the drink didn’t slosh around or spill, which would make the cup dirty. The milk tea was a cool, light brown shade and looked very appetizing. The drink was really cold, and the flavor was actually amazing. You could really taste the brown sugar, and the black tea blended so well with the milk. It was super creamy, and yet you could still taste the tea in the drink. This drink was super light, refreshing, and delicious – the perfect thing to cool you down on a hot summer day.
The next spot to stop at during a summer heatwave would be Green Point Juicery. They serve juices and smoothies. Most of their products are 100% Organic, which is great for people that want to eat organically grown food. I tried the Dragon Fruit Smoothie. The presentation of the smoothie was nice – nothing spilled outside of the cup, and nothing sloshed on the side of the cup to make it dirty. It was a darker shade of hot pink, and you could see the dragon fruit seeds inside of the smoothie. They gave the smoothie a nice crunch for texture. The smoothie was really thick and creamy, even though it did not have any milk or yogurt in it. You could really taste the banana and apple juice that was blended in the smoothie, and they left a sweet aftertaste that lingered in my mouth. They didn’t overpower the dragon fruit though, which was really nice. The drink was served very cold, which was definitely a plus. The smoothie was also super smooth other than the seeds, which made it easy to drink. The smoothie was sweet, but not too sweet that it was overbearing. You could also taste a hint of the flaxseed included in the smoothie in the aftertaste. Flaxseed is a superfood, so you can have a healthy and delicious drink at the same time! If you are looking for a cool, fruit-flavored drink that is just as healthy as it is delicious, stop by Green Point Juicery.
The last (but most certainly not the least) spot to stop in Morristown for a cold drink is Surreal Creamery. Not only does Surreal Creamery have ice cream for a cold summer day, but they have milkshakes as well! And their signature mason jar shakes are something that you have to try. I got the Nom Nom Cookie shake. If you have the time, it is always super fun to eat in the store, because then you can enjoy the milkshake in a signature mason jar with heaps of toppings! This shake was cookie monster soft-serve ice cream blended with milk and Oreos. The presentation was great – there was no spillage, and a nice clean pour into the cup. The whipped cream was swirled perfectly on the top of the shake, garnished to perfection with a dust of oreo crumbles on the whipped cream. There was also a nice touch of white chocolate shavings on the top of the shake. The consistency of this shake was also perfect. It was super creamy, and really thick. It was the perfect consistency for a milkshake on a hot summer day. The drink was also served really cold. It is served with a large straw so you can really feel that thick consistency. The flavor of this shake was great as well. It was not as sweet as your typical milkshake – it was a little bit less sweet. You could really taste the flavor of the cookie monster ice cream – at first it tasted a lot like a delicious cookies and cream ice cream, but it also had a hint of mint in the taste that got more prominent in the aftertaste. You could taste it more and more as you continued drinking the shake. Overall, this shake was fantastic and delicious, and is the perfect thing on a summer day when you’re craving a thick and creamy milkshake.
In any summer heatwave, a cold drink can be just the thing to cool you down. Taro, Green Point Juicery, and Surreal Creamery are all fantastic places to grab a cold drink that you have to try! There are also even more fantastic places in Morristown that have cold drinks that you should definitely check out if you can. So whenever you’re feeling the temperature climb on a summer day, grab your sunglasses, sunscreen, and head over to any of these places for a cold drink that not only cools you down, but satisfies your taste buds in the heat of the summer.
