It’s approaching that time of year when the weather is warmer and summer plans are being made. While you might be thinking of beach trips and hanging with friends, a great way to spend your summer break is by contributing to your community. It may seem strange, but community service is very rewarding. Additionally, it looks good on resumes and applications. There are so many community service opportunities in the Morristown Area, read on to find ways you can help this summer.
- Grow It Green Morristown
Everyone loves Farmer Shaun, right? Well Farmer Shaun works very hard, and needs your help! The farm is located at 31 Hazel Street in Morristown, NJ. If you want to volunteer over the summer there are open volunteer days every Saturday and you can sign up for slots during the week, or find more information about Grow It Green on their website www.growitgreenmorristown.org/.
- Community soup Kitchen
You’ve probably seen the signs for this organization around town. This organization helps many members of the community, and they really deserve the help. There are many ways to to help. First, their website has a list of things they always need to be donated. They also have many volunteer opportunities such as the serving line, free farmers market, and youth council, for people older than twelve years. - Goodwill
Have you ever had an overflowing closet, or dresser? Why not do some cleaning and donating? If you have clothes that are way too small, or you never wear, donating them is a great way to help the community, and clean out your closet. Goodwill accepts used and lightly used clothing and small items. The closest Goodwill to Morristown is in Rockaway (226 US Route 46, Rockaway, NJ 07866). The parks of Morristown are so beautiful and awesome. This is thanks to the work of the town and volunteers. There are many ways to volunteer through the town, or just help out. They have volunteer events and programs available. Additionally, while you’re at the parks a great way to help out is to simply pick up trash. Litter in town parks isn’t good for the environment, so lend a hand and pick it up.
