Have you ever wanted to know more about your counselor? Well, I have interviewed the 6th grade counselor Ms. Sibila Saenz de Viteri, or as we know her, Ms. Sibi. So follow along, here’s some Q and A with Ms. Sibi.
Falcon Press: How do you help the students here?
Ms. Sibi: “By listening to their thoughts and feelings when they need to talk, and by giving them a person they can count on when they need it at school. My office is a safe and brave space for them when they need a break.”
FP: How do you feel about the 6th grade academy?
MS: “I think it’s awesome. I think that it will bring all sixth-graders together no matter what House they are in. It will give sixth-graders their own space.”
FP: What do you like about FMS?
MS: “Seeing all the students’ excitement. I love my students, the people, and the staff. Everyone is willing to help.”
FP: What’s your favorite part about being a counselor?
MS: “Interacting with my students and getting to know them. Giving them someone who will always believe in them no matter what.”
FP: When is a good time for students to meet you?
MS: “Whenever I’m available, I’m always just an email away!”
FP: What should a student come to you about?
MS: “Nothing is too big, nothing is too small. If it is in your mind and it’s staying there for a while, and you need somebody to talk to, that’s what I’m here for.”
FP: Why do you love FMS?
FP: Do you have any advice for the sixth-graders?
MS: “Get involved, ask questions, explore! Be curious and reach out. Learning can be fun.”
FP: What’s your favorite thing to do outside of school?
MS: “I love to take pictures. I like to read and watch my shows, which are usually anime shows. I also like Korean dramas. I like playing cards with my family. I like to go on outings to visit new places.”
FP: What’s your favorite genre of movie?
MS: “Romantic comedy, as well as Korean dramas because a lot of them are romantic comedies.”
FP: What’s your favorite movie?
MS: “My favorite movie is a K-drama called The Goblin.”
FP: What’s your favorite season and why?
MS: “I like fall for the pictures, the trees, the different colors are amazing. It’s the best photography season. Winter is my favorite because of Christmas obviously and also for the wardrobe. I like my boots and my gloves and hats. Summer has the beach. Every season has a favorite side to it.”
I learned a lot through this interview, and I hope you got to know Ms. Sibi too! It was interesting to hear her thoughts, how she can help you, and her advice. All of it. Just remember that the counselors are here to help you, and like Ms. Sibi said, they’re just an email away after all!
