Bored? Best Teen Fun!

Scarlet Caragan, Staff Writer

Have you ever been in your house with nothing to do? Well, here are some activities to have the best teen fun! Here are three activities I do that people around our age enjoy doing.

Join School Clubs!

One way to have fun as a teenager is to join after-school clubs so you can socialize with others and maybe even learn what hobbies you’re actually into! According to, “Afterschool programs can support social, emotional, cognitive, and academic development, reduce risky behaviors, promote physical health, and provide a safe and supportive environment for children and youth.” As you can see, joining extracurricular activities can impact you in so many ways.

Get a Simple Job

Besides after-school activities, another way to have fun as a teenager is to find a safe way to make money, such as doing chores, babysitting, or even mowing lawns. Making your own money is an important skill because it can show you how to manage money. You can also have new experiences that challenge you. The Evolve Treatment Centers say that “jobs help kids develop a sense of responsibility. Jobs help kids develop a greater sense of self.” In conclusion, getting a safe side job as a teenager can help you become more responsible and have different learning experiences in life.

Create a Bucket List

If you can’t get a simple job or join a school club because you can’t leave the house, there’s always a good old-fashioned bucket list! A bucket list, if you didn’t know, is a list of things you want to do during your lifetime. This can be fun since people like to create so many goals in life. It becomes a plan for an adventurous path to the great feeling of accomplishment when completing a task. And the best part? You get to choose the fun activities that you want to do! There are so many possibilities for the future that just thinking about it inspires me to add to my own bucket list right now!

In conclusion, if you are bored, cold, or sad, try doing some different activities to experience the best teen fun! Joining some school clubs can impact your social skills. Getting a simple and SAFE job can teach you financial responsibility and challenge you in new ways in preparation for the future. Finally, creating a bucket list can help you determine the goals you want to accomplish in life! There are so many times when being a teenager is boring – I get it! But doing all of these activities made me so active and engaged. If you ever try them out, I hope you feel the same amazing experiences that I did! Which one will you do first?
