Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a fantasy series by Rick Riordan that has engaged readers in its tales for almost fifteen years. The series presents the world of Greek Mythology through the adventures of the main character, Percy Jackson. With all of the experiences that Percy and his friends have, this series is one that people of all ages will enjoy.

The stories span the time in Percy’s life from when he is twelve years old until he is sixteen. In the first book, he learns that everything from Greek Mythology is actually real, and that he is a demigod, which is a child of a Greek god or goddess and a mortal. From the moment of that shocking discovery, the series takes Percy on a number of quests against the dangers of monsters and villains from Greek Mythology. Percy faces these perils and completes journeys in order to prevent something insanely bad from happening. Each new book in the series builds upon the one before it, helping to shape the events of the final story. Through all of Percy’s journeys, he gains new friends and enemies, makes shocking discoveries, and learns more about himself and his abilities in the demigod side of his life.

What’s especially great about this series is that all its plot lines can easily get readers hooked on Greek Mythology. From the moment they read the first book, they will immediately want to learn more about Greek Mythology. It can even become a new hobby! What’s also really good about this series is that the readers will love the way the adventures, characters, and mythical beings are portrayed. Besides that, there are many twists, turns, and cliffhangers that can keep the books open to their final pages. Finally, from the way that Rick Riordan portrays Greek Mythology, along with its traditions, stories, and characters, readers will be able to learn about Greek Mythology from another point of view, as well as almost a whole new world. This book series presents the ideas of Greek Mythology in a unique way that can make it more interesting and intriguing. The books in the series are The Lightning Thief, The Sea of Monsters, The Titan’s Curse, The Battle of the Labyrinth, and The Last Olympian.

Besides the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, Rick Riordan also wrote a companion series called The Heroes of Olympus, which combines Greek and Roman Mythology. He also writes corresponding books to those series, as well as different series representing Norse and Egyptian Mythology. There’s also a program called Rick Riordan Presents, which publishes mythology themed books from other authors. With all these choices, these books are great for free reading and independent reading books for school.  Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a series that no one should miss.
