This fall, movies such as Thor: Ragnarok and It dominated the box office. This winter, many more movies are coming out that seem to be sure hits. Here are 3 movies to look out for:

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Star Wars: The Last Jedi, or Star Wars episode VIII, is the 9th overall Star Wars movie (10th if you count the 2008 Clone Wars film). The film picks up right where Star Wars: The Force Awakens left off in 2015. Rey, the mysterious protagonist, has found Luke Skywalker in exile.  The pilot Poe Dameron is helping fight to save the galaxy. In addition, ex-soldier Finn and the evil knight Kylo-Ren are both recovering from their duel. The new film will see Finn team up with a new character, the mechanic Rose. With so many stories to tell, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is sure to be a great movie. The trailer can be seen here.

The Greatest Showman

Starring: Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams

Rated: PG

Release Date: December 20

The Greatest Showman is a musical movie about P.T. Barnum, the man who started the famous Barnum & Bailey Circus. Barnum was an ambitious visionary who jump-started the show business. Barnum will be portrayed by Hugh Jackman (star from the X-men franchise). Jackman has shown off his musical talent previously in 2012’s Les Miserables. The music will be written by Pasek & Paul, who are behind the music for La La Land and Dear Evan Hansen. If you like musicals and circuses, or just want a good family film to see over winter break, this is the movie for you. You can watch the trailer here.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Starring: Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart

Rated: PG-13

Release Date: December 20

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is the sequel to the 1995 film Jumanji. The film takes place 20 years after the original. It focuses on four teenagers who get sucked into the game Jumanji.  In the movie, the game has evolved from a board game into a video game. The movie will be a great adventure film, especially due to its all-star cast, which includes Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jack Black, Nick Jonas, and many more. The trailer is available here.

As you can see, all three of these movies look like they will be great. If you are bored during winter break, maybe you can go and see one of these films. They are sure to be entertaining!
