Jordan Dickman, Writer, Editor

Many candidates have joined the pool for the Democratic nomination for the 2020 presidential election, including Tulsi Gabbard, John Delaney, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Beto O’Rourke. All of these people have a chance of winning, but these three candidates are the most likely be the nomination for the Democratic Party.

Note: This does not include politicians who had not formally announced their candidacy by the time that this article was written, such as Joe Biden or Stacy Abrams.

Elizabeth Warren

Warren is 69 Years old. She is from Massachusetts and was an assistant to former president Barack Obama. She also assisted the Secretary of the Treasury. She was on a Congressional Panel that helped relief efforts during the 2008 financial crisis. Since 2013 she has been in the US Senate representing her state. As you can see, she is very qualified to run for president.

Bernie Sanders

Sanders is 77 and from Vermont. He is currently a United States senator and has been since 2007. He ran for president in 2016. However, he was defeated in the primaries and Hillary Clinton got the Democratic nomination. He has gained popularity for his Democratic Socialist positions, such as universal healthcare or free college admissions. Since Sanders has tried running for president before, he is more experienced than some of his opponents in the primaries.

Cory Booker

Booker is a 49-year-old Senator from New Jersey. He was previously the Mayor of Newark from 2006 to 2013. He was the first African-American senator from New Jersey when he was elected in 2013. He is a very popular candidate, which puts him at an advantage. He is also very popular on social media, having 4 million followers on Twitter.

These are three candidates that have a large chance of winning the primary due to being very qualified, experienced or popular. However, any of the other candidates could win the primaries as well. Who do you think will win the Democratic primary and challenge President Trump in the 2020 election.
